Watching paint dry can be pretty tedious. However, it turns out that watching paint run, crawl, trickle, stream, flow, bounce and coagulate is anything but.
Synaesthesia is the curious condition where there is a mingling of the senses. Hearing the word unicorn you might think of blue. Upon hearing a musical note, you might see a colour, for example f-sharp might be red.
I wanted to explore this phenomena and over two days I shot thousands of individual paint drops and drips. I then taught myself after effects and assembled thousands of blobs, drips and flows into a synaesthetic kinetic abstract experiment .
As part of Offset 2014, 10 artists were asked to think about home, and interpret the phrase “are you coming or going”.
