I started turtlehead in 2006 with the idea to create a t-shirt label that was part social commentary, part public art, part rant, part ‘up yours’ and part down with this sort of thing.
The t-shirts were ethically printed in runs of 100, and were as environmentally friendly as t-shirts could be. They sold out quickly and for the next run I decided to email 10 of my favourite artists around the world. The next day I received a drawing from David Shrigley and that was really the start of turtlehead the collective. After that Marc Johns, Will Bryant, Si Scott, Jon Burgerman and about 50 other incredible artist came on board. We opened a gallery in Dublin that ran exhibitions every 2 weeks.
